Here I Go Again

Back to school. Bleeeeeeh. I am actually going to 2 different colleges, because the main college doesn't offer one of the classes I want (and need) so I go to the community college twice a week. That campus started last week and the class I'm taking is actually kind of fun, plus the best part is that Kenneth is taking the class with me! It makes everything so much better to have him there with me and we can help each other study. The other campus starts tomorrow.
Bad things about this semester: I have 2 long classes, because they are only once a week so they are each almost 3 hours long. I hate long classes and I have a hard time focusing and sitting still for that long it's just so boring.
Also, I have a FRIDAY class. The best thing about college is that you have 3 day weekends. I usually end up spending all three doing papers and studying but still, it is a nice perk. But this time I had to take a class on Friday. Also, it is on a Friday morning which makes it even worse because I have to get up early. With the severe budget cuts, they have to offer less classes and one of the ones I really needed/wanted ended up only being offered Friday mornings so I took it.
Good things about this semester: I only have 1 class each day Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri. On Thurs, I have 2 classes but the second one is with Kenneth so it's not too bad. So overall, besides the whole Friday thing I don't think this semester will be too bad.
This post is really boring, sorry, I'll try to make my next one more exciting.

Oh! I just remembered, I went with Ken, Luke, Troy and Zach to see a movie (Conan the Barbarian it kinda sucked) and on the way out Kenneth pointed to the wall and there was a Hunger Games movie poster with just the Mockingjay symbol on it. I squealed out loud before I could contain myself. Eee!

Warped Tour 2011!!!!!!

Wow. I haven't written a post in a while! This is my Warped Tour post!! I was gonna do a whole Warped Tour/festival themed thing on my beauty blog but then I realized that it wouldn't really be helpful since my town was on the last week of the tour and summer is winding down so most festivals are probably over. Anyway on with the post.

So if you don't know what Warped Tour is you can go to www.vanswarpedtour.com and check it out. I went with Kenneth, his cousin Holly, her friend Jasmine and our friend Zach. We got there a few minutes late due to the traffic trying to get into the place. The first thing we did is suck it up and buy one of those 2 dollar paper things which I recommend 100%. On one side it has a list of the stages, each band playing that stage and what time they are playing and on the back is a map. So we put a mark next to each band we wanted to see and luckily there were no time conflicts with the bands we wanted to see like there was last year.

We walked around a bit looking at the tents, (each band has a merch tent set up, plus there are tents for clothing companies, record companies, charities and organizations). And then we went to see the Aggrolites which Zach really likes. While we were waiting for them to come on we watched the band on the stage next to it, Family Force Five. They actually put on a really fun show and for the last song the lead singer got in this huge plastic bubble and rolled out on top of the crowd! So he was in there singing and rolling around and everyone was holding him up, it was one of the two coolest things I saw all day. The Aggrolites were good, I had never heard of them before, but they played kind of ska-ish music just without the horns and they had the cutest circle pit, everyone was dancing in a circle.

Next we saw Abandon All Ships, my guilty pleasure band (come on, they are just so silly with the squats and the autotune and the way the screamer guy draws out the last syllable of every word). But they were really good and played most of my favorites. Then we watched a little bit of Asking Alexandria but they were kind of boring so we went to go sit down on one of the parking curbs and from there we could see Black Veil Brides. It was kind of funny seeing the surprise on Ken and Zach's faces when they actually saw them.

I think we had a long break here, Ken ate something and then we sat in the very back of the parking lot on the curb, with no shade, full on sun the whole time. From there we could hear Of Mice and Men and then me and Ken went to lie on the gross prickly grass in the only shade we could find before we got back up to meet back with Zach and go see Eyes Set to Kill. I hate when bands change the crap out of their lineup but they were good anyway.

Next was my favorite band of the day Enter Shikari. Ahhh they were SO GOOD. They did all my favorite songs and were so much fun I'm so glad I got to see them. Then we ran to the main stage to see Paramore. There was such a huge crowd and we were way in the back. I like Paramore but I don't really know any of their new stuff and I don't know what the whole drama with the lineup change was all about. Zach stayed to watch the whole thing but me and Ken left part way through to see D.R.U.G.S. They were awesome. They were probably another favorite because of the energy of the crowd and the band and I liked all the songs and everything. I was hoping that the crowd would all sing along with the slow beginning of one of the songs and we did and it was one of those moments.

We went back to our spot to chill and I got fries because it was the only thing there I could eat and we watched a few more bands from back there. It was starting to get dark and cold and the lead singer of (I think it was Miss May I) was saying how damn cold he was and it was the coldest stop on the whole tour. The day temp got up to only about 80 and then it gets chilly every night around here, summer or not. The second coolest thing I saw was the marathon pit for this band. They made the biggest circle ever and ran all the way around, it looked awesome from where we were. We thought everyone was leaving at this point but then we walked by the main stage and found EVERYONE. There was the biggest crowd ever gathered for A Day To Remember. I don't even know who this band is but apparently they are popular.

There was only one more band we wanted to see The Ready Set and they went on very last of the night. I was surprised to see that we had plenty of time in the gap to check out A Skylit Drive so we watched them and then The Ready Set who were really really fun, since I knew all the songs and they were another fav.

So I told you the two coolest things I saw so here is the lamest thing I saw. Ok, I think I said this in a post before but I'm cool with mosh pits. Circle pits are just dumb to me but  I was actually wishing for a circle pit after this new trend I saw. So a couple big dorky dudes will start shoving the crowd out of their way until a circle is formed and then just start flailing their arms around and looking like they are doing the spastic bee dance. (You know when there is a bee in the car and you jump out spazzing out trying to swat it away?) It is the number one most stupid looking thing I have ever seen and I just can't allow myself to think, "oh you know, just let them have their fun," no. They brutally shove people trying to have a good time out of their way and then fling their fists around so fast that if someone were caught in that they would be seriously injured. Plus they make this huge circle that no one else can enjoy. There is only enough room for like two dudes to be in there doing that and they tire easily so there ends up being an empty circle pit. PLEASE stop this trend. Some people wanted to start a circle pit but couldn't because at every single band there were some lame guys doing this.

So overall the day was so amazing. And extremely tiring, we were there for 10 hours in the sun. I only got a little burned and a lot tanned. I also bought an Enter Shikari wristband, a Vans tank top and got a free bag with it. Loved the Kleen Kanteen (you can fill up your bottles with free filtered water at the station) and the fact that there were actual bathrooms. Food was way over priced as usual but it didn't put a damper on my day. If you like the kind of music they play I definitely recommend going next year, get your ticket early at the presale they are way cheaper!

Wedding Aniversary

Today is me and Kenneth's 3 year anniversary. I was having a bad year streak until I met him and the past 5 years have been the best of my life. I can't believe we've been married 3 years but I truly believe in soul mates and he is mine because he is not only my husband but my best friend. We do everything together, and there is no "hey I wanna go hang out with the guys tonight" because we hang out with friends together. There's so much more I can say but I don't want to get too mushy. I love you Kenneth!

I'm going to change up my blog a little. I'm going to have a topic I'll stick to talking about instead of just randomly writing what I did or want to do. Unless of course I did something out of the ordinary. Like last Saturday me, Ken and Zach went to the Scream It Like You Mean It Tour and had a lot of fun. Breathe Carolina played some of their brand new songs and Kyle reached into the audience and held my hand. =D I didn't like it as much as the Fearless Friends Tour, and I'm not quite sure why, but it was still an awesome night.

So I have just a mini topic today. Opening bands. Advice for the people on tour, sometimes we don't really want to see like 25 bands in one night, (unless it's Warped Tour or a festival) we usually just come out for the headliners and possibly one other band so maybe having about 2 or possibly 3 openers at the most is enough.
So one thing I really appreciated about this show was that they changed sets between bands quickly and efficiently. I've been to shows where the bands just kinda slowly poke around on stage forever and then do a really long sound check and it's like, we've been standing here for hours, our feet hurt and we are squished up against people we don't know and frankly, they smell bad. Get on with the show!
The last thing I want to say is that even though I didn't know who most of the opening bands were and some weren't really my thing, I still danced and cheered and jumped around at least some for them all. They are up there playing their little hearts out and it just seems rude to not show at least a little appreciation. Talk to you guys later!

Bracelets and Writer's Block

Hey guys. I'm super bored so I went to the craft store and got some embroidery thread to make bracelets! Hopefully they turn out okay. I actually got the idea from Kyle from Breathe Carolina, he was showing me and another girl his bracelets that people made for him and they actually looked pretty cool. Then I found this http://honestlywtf.com/diy/diy-friendship-bracelet/ and decided to give it a try.

So I told Kenneth that I've been having writer's block when it comes to my stories and he said to just pick one, the one that I'm farthest along in and go through, from beginning to end and fix everything in it and finish it. He said I have to finish it by the end of the month and I was like "uhh that's not going to happen, how about the end of the summer?" And he said nope, you have to get used to deadlines. So I just sat down and only let myself work on that one story and forced myself to do it and what do you know, I'm getting a lot done! I don't write in chronological order, I'll get the main scenes and backbone of the story all worked out and then go through and add in details and fix things that don't make sense. For example, I would have someone live in a one-story apartment and then have her be walking up and down the stairs! So I go through and fix things like that. Also, the girl didn't have parents at first so I gave her some. I'm glad to be working on things again.
Sooo that's about it, just a little random thought for today!

Gluten Free and New Girl

This isn't the best or most interesting topic but it's having a large impact on my life right now so I'm going to write about it a little.
So I'm pretty sure I've mentioned that I'm having an allergic reaction to something, and I have been for about the past 3 months, I just don't know what it is that I'm allergic to. I've switched up my shampoo, conditioner, body wash, everything and my skin condition just won't go away. So a couple days ago Dr. Melissa told me that it is likely a reaction to food, which I wrote off at first because I haven't been eating anything different lately. She said that a food allergy could have just been building up in my body and it finally started to show itself. So geez, now I'm trying to figure out what food it is and I have started with wheat/gluten. I already don't eat any dairy whatsoever so that's ruled out. It's been a little difficult because so many things have gluten in them but I've been doing a good job. The plus side is that I have been eating sooo much healthier and not going out to eat at all. It's only been a few days but here is an example of what I ate today:
Breakfast: A scrambled egg (I'm trying to make sure I eat other possible allergy foods so I can rule out only one thing at a time and eggs are a possible allergy) and yogurt made from coconut milk with blueberries and raspberries on top.
Lunch: One piece of gluten-free bread (its very thick hence the one piece) with vegan mayo, a piece of turkey, and spicy mustard on top. Baby carrots with hummus and a few gluten free crackers.
Dinner: A turkey burger (just the patty, no bun or anything else), and steamed broccoli and for dessert a couple gluten free cookies.
Unfortunately I haven't been any less itchy but like I said it's only been a couple of days and I do feel more healthy. If this doesn't help, I'm going to try ruling out sugar, eggs, nuts, seafood and soy. Sigh.
Other than that I haven't been doing a whole lot, but pretty much my summer has already been made, (by the whole video experience) so I'm happy even  if nothing else happens. I am going to a concert next week (Breathe Carolina, their new album came out 2 days ago and I love it!) and also I'm going to Warped Tour next month.
So have you seen the previews for a new show coming out called New Girl or something like that? It has Zooey whatever her name is? I am so pissed off about this show. Why you might ask? Because I wrote it! Ok I didn't write the exact show but I was in the middle of writing a totally new type of story for me. It is for an older age group than my usual 12 to 18 year old target group and I was seriously thinking of putting it in tv show format. It was a comedy about a girl who moves to a new town to go to college and through a misunderstanding ends up rooming with four college guys. In the real tv show, a girl moves in with 3 guys. They seem to have the same look as my group of guys has, right down to one of them being black in both instances and some of the interactions seem similar to what I was going to do. The show looks like its going to be really good and funny which makes me hate it even more. I know they aren't exactly the same, I don't think the girl on tv is in college and of course the stories will end up being totally different but it seems like the same basic premise. So now, if I ever decide to do anything with that story it will seem like I'm copying the tv show. Meh C'est la vie I guess.

Ways To Spend the Rest of my Summer

I feel like I've been wasting a lot of my summer just doing...I don't know, not very much of anything really. So I decided to really focus and find what it is that I want to do.

I definitely want to write more, I didn't write all semester and then when I finally had free time I just felt like turning my brain off for awhile. But it's going back on. I think that what I'm going to do is not let school take over my entire life. I know that I want good grades and all but I still want to write. I think that the classes I'm taking next semester will still be challenging, but not so much reading which takes up a lot of time and really seems to be a waste sometimes. I'm taking 2 writing classes and a language class and only 1 class that is like last semester's.

I do want to try to go to the beach, despite last post. It's free and takes like what 10 minutes to get there? It's been really hot lately and it might feel good to cool off in the water.

Also, maybe try something like cooking healthy meals with Kenneth, I hate cooking but he is good at it so maybe if we do it together it won't be too bad. We had a couple of themed meal get-togethers with our friends like once in October we did an Oktoberfest thing where we made German food and drank German beer and then we did a Japanese one where we made, of course, sushi and drank Japanese drinks. So maybe we can do more of them. Any ideas? Or we can just do like a fake-cocktail party where we don't actually dress up and be boring but we make a couple different kinds of cocktails.

Maybe once every couple of weeks or when we can afford it me and Ken can have like a date night or something. Go to dinner or a movie or a walk on the beach or whatever.

Go clubbing! Like to an actual club downtown where you dress up and get overpriced drinks and guys try to dance with you without asking first and it gets awkward because your husband is sitting right there and you are trying to get away but not be mean about it.

I want to finish watching some tv shows like when I have nothing else to do. Its Always Sunny..., South Of Nowhere (shutup! I know it's ridiculous but it's one of those shows that suck you in like Degrassi and you can't stop even though you know it's not that great), Archer, Workaholics and whatever else. Also some anime that I've been watching with Ken. Even though I'm only a quarter Japanese I just can't help it if I love sushi, Hello Kitty and watching anime.

Read more of course. I don't have any books left to read on my Kindle but I have that 100 Classic books on my Nintendo DS. That should last a while haha.

Well I guess that's it for now!

Blowing Things Up-It's How We Roll

So for the fourth of July I sort of had two celebrations. On the third, Luke invited me and Ken, Zach, Troy and 3 of his neighbors over to his house and we played beer pong (me and Zach were one cup away from winning) and Halo Reach and everyone talked and sang and argued and invented beer pong olympics (beer pong basketball, water polo and lacrosse?). Yeah it was 7 guys and me. I know I'm sort of one of the guys anyway, but geez.

Then yesterday, I kind of just chilled. For some reason I felt a little tired and didn't feel like fighting the crowds to go see fireworks or anything. I remember a couple years ago we went to the beach and got a good idea to stand on the pier because we wouldn't be caught in the crowd on the beach, plus we'd have like front row seats. About two minutes before they started, the fog just rushed in faster than I've ever seen it, they started the fireworks and no one got to see any of it. Lame. So anyway, me Ken and Beth went to Luke's last night.  Luke's dad just got back from Vegas and brought us a giant box of explody goodness! So we spent the night blowing things up. I did some videos, maybe I'll upload them to my youtube or something and give you the link. I have to completely re-do my youtube.

Man I can't believe it's July already!! Where are you going summer?? Actually I'm feeling pretty good. I had some good times lately and I've got a concert coming up week after next. I'm just going to really crack down on writing my stories.

You know what? I feel weird that I don't go to the beach every day like everyone else in So Cal. I mean I love the ocean and being able to be near the beach, but I just don't like putting on a bathing suit, getting sand stuck all over me, going into the freezing cold ocean, getting knocked over by waves, fighting people for a spot to put my towel down and getting baked by the sun. It's just a big pain to me. I don't know why...well with that I leave you.
