So we had a nice little BBQ yesterday. We invited 3 of our friends and my Grandma and my uncle who just came in from Texas for the interment on Thursday. That is what we are calling the funeral because it isn't really a funeral, we are just putting his ashes into the space. So altogether there were 10 people, not including my sister who was only there for a few minutes really.
We had a good time, all except for poor little Bender. My stepdad was giving food to the dogs and I don't really know what happened but all of a sudden Sam attacked Bender. Sam is a AmStaff/pit mix and my parent's dog and Bender is a chihuahua and he's mine. It's really weird because Sam is usually really mellow and he has lived with Bender since Ben was a puppy. I scooped him up just as my mom was pulling Sam off him and at first he seemed ok, just scared but then I noticed blood on top of his head. He has a pretty deep puncture there, but it is at an angle so the skin lays over the wound and didn't bleed much. I was considering taking him to the vet, but I don't think there is much they can do. The wound won't need stitches because of the angle, and he had a rough night but he doesn't seem to be in pain anymore. We are keeping it clean for him and he can't reach it to lick it or anything. The side of his face is a little swollen around his eye and cheek. Poor little guy.
We were talking about how all the deadliest snakes and other creatures all seem to live in Australia. Everyone decided to stay away from Australia except for Luke and me. I would still like to go there, I think the chances of my encountering one of those creatures in one visit are somewhat slim, especially since I wouldn't really plan to be bushwhacking my way through jungles and camping out in the outback. Although come to think of it, both of those options seem pretty fun too ;)
